Botswana: Kalahari desert 2003

Kalahari desert, also known as Kgalagadi

Few old pictures from Kalahari (Kgalagadi). They were destroyed, but happened to save them a bit.

The film “The Gods Must Be Crazy” was filmed right here.

Kalahari desert, also known as Kgalagadi. Kalahari is a large semi-arid sandy savannah in southern Africa. It covers 900,000 square kilometres (350,000 sq mi), covering much of Botswana and parts of Namibia and South Africa. A semi-desert, with huge tracts of excellent grazing after good rains, the Kalahari supports more animals and plants than a true desert.  for comparison – France is 644,000 square kilometres large, German 350,000 square kilometres or Texas 1500 sq km (600 sq mi.)
